Radha Beauty: Vitamin C Serum & Retinol Moisturizer Reviews

I have been testing the Radha Beauty Vitamin C Serum and Retinol Moisturizer in conjunction for the past two weeks.  They are complimentary products and meant to be used together.

The Vitamin C Serum contains 20% Vitamin C  in the form of Absorbyl Phosphate, a form of ascorbic acid. The other active ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid. Vitamin C in skincare is very important , esp. for skin over the age of 35. Humans are the only mammals that do not produce their own within our bodies.  It is an anti-oxidant that can help protect against sun damage, fights free radicals, such as pollution, smoke and the sun itself . These free radicals actually can cause damage to our DNA , proteins and lipids in our skin causing our cells to die.

When you apply Vitamin C to the skin, it helps to stimulate collagen, provides sun protection and will also improve the skin’s tone and texture.  As for other benefits, it reduces any brown spots caused by aging or pregnancy and decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and can help prevent their formation.  As stated in a previous post, Hyaluronic Acid is a natural component of human skin , but does decrease as you age. It moisturizes, and aids in tissue repair as well as boosting collagen and elastin.

This product also contains Vitamin E and Green Tea.  It is meant to be used only once daily. Topical Vitamin C can be a very potent treatment.  As with most skincare treatments, you do not see immediate results, but over a period of 4-6 weeks, you will start to notice your wrinkles diminishing and any dark spots starting to fade.

The directions say to apply to skin and let dry for about 15 minutes. I did feel a tightening of the skin around that mark, then you are free to apply your moisturizer.  I find this Vitamin C serum penetrates the skin very quickly and I experienced no irritation whatsoever. However, I have used Vitamin C products in the past, so I may have built up somewhat of a tolerance to the ingredient.  As I stated, at the beginning,  I have not seen any visible results, but I have only been using it for two weeks.  I plan to continue using it as I do have several areas under my eye area with discoloration and have great hopes that this will fade these in time.  It comes in a pump dispenser and  any fragrance it has is very mild and disappears immediately.  It is a generous 1 oz size, and will last for several months of daily use.  It is available here at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PXDWR6O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have been applying the Miracle by Radha Beauty Retinol Moisturizer day and night.  It contains 2.5 % of active retinol, Vitamin E and green tea. It is not a thick or heavy cream in the least. It also comes with a pump dispenser. I find that it instantly absorbs into the skin.  What I found interesting about the product was that, at first my skin did not feel as if I had applied a moisturizer whatsoever. However, after each application,  about an hour later, my skin felt very soft to the touch.  Perhaps in the winter time, you may need to apply a heavier cream in addition to this, if your skin is very dry.

Retinol is a source of Vitamin A and this can be used at any age. Again, if you are not used to products containing retinol, you may want to start slowly.  You should also wait at least 30 minutes before you expose your skin to the sun if you do not have an SPF makeup or other product on.  Retinol provides anti-aging benefits at a gradual pace. It exfoliates the skin by clearing away the dead skin cells and gives new cells a chance to grow. Your skin loses elasticity over time, so this will assist in collagen production. If used on a regular basis over a period of time, it will restructure your skin and encourage continual regeneration by making wrinkles recede and any facial discoloration begin to disappear.  Besides, having anti-aging benefits, this is also wonderful for those with acne, as it exfoliates and cleans the pores. If using for the first time, you may experience you skin sloughing off the dead cells within 10-15 minutes of treatment.  I recommend massaging your face to see if this is occurring before applying any makeup products. This product is a 1 oz sized bottle and a little goes a long way.  I look forward to seeing even better results in the coming weeks with the addition of this product and think it will make the perfect summertime moisturizer.  Here is the link to purchase if interested on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PG28B3A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Both products contain a money back guarantee and you even get to keep any remaining product! You simply have to contact the company and no questions asked , will be fully refunded your money. I think you will be impressed enough however, over time with your results and this will not be an issue. Honestly, how many companies are so confident in their products that they offer this kind of guarantee? Very few that I know of.

Radha Beauty: Intensive Youth Eye Gel Review

I have been testing the Radha (pronouced “rada”) Beauty Intensive Youth Eye Gel for the past couple of weeks. Just in that small amount of time, I have noticed some dramatic results and I have some photos to prove it.

I would like to first speak about the active ingredients contained within this wonderful eye gel. It is a combination of plant stem cells, Matrixyl 3000, Hyaluronic Acid, a peptide complex and Vitamin E. For those of you who are not familiar with the effects of those ingredients, I will explain a little bit in detail.

Plant stem cells included in skincare do the following: they stimulate regeneration and repair the skin and make it tighter and smoother. It can also protect our own stem cells so that they live longer and it makes them more active again.

Matrixyl 3000 is a combination of two peptides. One being PAL-GHK and the other referred to as PAL-GQPR. The first of the peptides is a fatty acid and is added to improve the peptide’s oil and provides penetration into the skin. It can also produce new collagen which leads to wrinkle reduction , skin firming and some other benefits. The second peptide (PAL-GQPR) does some similar things, but also has a molecule that promotes inflammation which slows down the degradation of the skin matrix and can also stimulate its replenishment. Together these two peptides are a powerhouse for the skin!

Hyaluronic Acid is a natural component of human skin. It can start to decrease as you age, sometimes as early as at age 18, although the effects probably will not show up until you are in your 30’s and 40’s. It’s chief functions are to hold in moisture, provide cushioning, aid in tissue repair and hold in the skin’s structural components collagen and elastin and creates a protective barrier.

Vitamin E is one of the most powerful anti-oxidants that protects and repairs your skin, but is not produced by the human body.

Now that you have the science behind the ingredients contained in the Radha Beauty Intensive Youth Eye Gel, let’s talk about the product itself and show you some results. It comes in a one pump dispenser and has a light cucumber smell to it. It is a fairly thick gel and the first time I applied it, I was surprised to feel tightening effects going on around my eye area. I also felt like everything in that area was lifting.

The directions for use are : to apply a small amount around the eyes, forehead and cheek area. You use it twice daily for the best results. Are you ready for some untouched photos?

The first one you see is before applying the serum with makeup on. Notice the dryness and deep wrinkles. I also had concealer on, but I have really bad dark circles that are partly hereditary.

This is my eye area now with no makeup on after only two weeks of use. Notice that the wrinkles closest to my nose area have started to fade dramatically and while I still have some pigmentation under the eyes, it has really lightened up that area. My only suggestion is that when you are using this gel in the morning , you may need to apply an additional eye cream under the eyes to moisturize the area enough for any concealer, if you use one that is not creamy enough in texture. Remember , this is only after two weeks of use, so I really do expect to see even better results in the coming weeks as I continue to use this product. I highly recommend this and will leave the link to where you can purchase this product on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NBAKXIA?psc=1

Love With Food : February 2015: Mardi Gras (Bourbon Street Tasting Box) Review

Love With Food is a box I have not reviewed in quite a while. I have continued to receive it for at least the last 9 months or so.  The box I am reviewing is the tasting box. It is a 10.00 a month subscription with 2 dollars shipping at its highest. If you choose to subscribe for more months the price of the box goes down and the shipping is free. If after reading this , and are interested. I will leave a link down below so that you may get your very first box for free and only pay the 2.00 shipping charge. No obligation after that, and can cancel at anytime. You should also know that this company provides a meal for a hungry child with each box purchased. Most of the foods each month are either all-natural, vegan, non-gmo or gluten free or any combination of the above. They also have a shop within their website, where you can purchase all kinds of healthy snacks and items and a points system for reviews that you can save up to get free snacks.

Okay, let’s get on to this month’s box.  First off, I was a bit surprised with the theme. They did not go for the obvious at all, Valentine’s Day. Very unique. In fact, overall, I think this box was the finest curation of all the boxes I have received thus far. As you can see in the picture above, they even included a set of Mardi Gras beads. How cute, right?  The pamphlet also was outstanding in its graphic design.  Let’s talk about the snacks!

The first item I received was the Lemon Wafer Bites by the brand Dolcetto.  Basically what they are, are little pillow pockets filled with a delicious lemon cream.  The pocket is like a wafer.  The product contained no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial ingredients and no trans fats. Honestly, this was my absolute favorite item in the box. I have received a similar product with chocolate inside from this same brand and it was equally as good. If they had not been sold out in the shop, I would have purchased more.

The next product was the Traditional Hot Chocolate by Monbana.  According to the flyer I have, it was created by French Master Chocolatiers using 32 % chocolate. There are only 3 ingredients. Sugar, vanilla and cocoa. Silly me, used to making hot chocolate with water, did not read the directions on the back. After I had mixed it with hot water it was a tiny bit bitter, that is when I read the directions and saw that it called for milk. Easily remedied by adding some almond milk to the top and stirring it in. It is a very rich, and decadent beverage, nothing like Swiss Miss at all.  It was a really nice treat for a Sunday morning. The product is also vegan.

Next up, to satisfy my eternal craving for salty foods at least once a day, was the Olive Oil Potato Chips by Boulder Canyon. Amazing kettle cooked chips, made in small batches and cooked in 100% Olive Oil, one of the good fats for you. They were delicious and made with only three ingredients: potatoes, olive oil, and sea salt. The big potato chip companies need to watch their backs. These are also Non-GMO, vegan, gluten free, all natural with no cholesterol or trans fats. They are also Kosher.

Another slightly salty treat, was the Baked Mac N’ Cheese Puffs by Snikiddy. While I can’t say that they tasted like mac and cheese , they were very tasty indeed, and they had me at cheese and puff. This company was created by two moms who were looking for healthy snacks for their children. They are Non-Gmo, Gluten Free, no trans fats, and contain no high fructose corn syrup. I think they hit the mark in the healthy department.

Also included within the box were a couple of chocolate squares by the company Divine Chocolate.Of course, they were delicious as well. I mean it’s chocolate, right? I received this box on Valentine’s Day actually, and it was nice to have some then. They are produced by the only fair trade company owned by its own cocoa farmers.

The chocolate did not end there. We also received two Toffee Crunch TruffleCremes from the company Dilettante. These were so good, I am a sucker for toffee. Not overpowering like a Heath bar, just a soft, delightful truffle.

The last product that I had tried was a Protein+ Almond Honey Bar by Rise Bar. This one was a little on the strange side. It was one small rectangular mold with kind of a strange texture. The flavor was not too bad. I think it was the texture I did not care for. However, it only contained three ingredients: almonds, honey and whey protein isolate and is non-gmo and gluten free.

I have not had the chance to try some seasoning packets that were also included in this month’s box. They are the Original Creole Seasoning By Tony Chachere. Supposed to be good for seasoning meats, stews, veggies and soups.  I am sure they will get used within the next month.

In closing, I really loved this month’s box overall.  The theme was  adorable, the treats wonderful and I think that this is a subscription service that just keeps getting better and better as the months pass.  They also carry a larger box called the Deluxe box which contains some of the same treats and others not included in the tasters box, and a Gluten-Free box as well, which is relatively new.

If you would like to check out this subscription and get your first box for only the 2 dollars shipping, simply hit this link: http://lovewithfood.com/invite?m=r&ref=MRy

Ciao for now!

Beautiful Nutrition Products Review

I recently received a set of three different products complimentary from Beautiful Nutrition for review and testing purposes. All opinions are my own.

Beautiful Nutrition is a New York based company that specializes in hair, skin, bath and supplement products. They are all citrus based (i.e. orange, grapefruit and lemon). They are sold primarily on Amazon at the moment, and at the end of this post I will provide the link to their Amazon store.

I was given three products to test, and would like to talk about each one individually.

The first product is their Fadeless Citrus Antioxidant Shampoo. It contains 12 mg of natural Vitamin C per application. It is specifically formulated for color treated hair. It is sulfate, paraben, DEA free and contains no synthetic dyes, colors or fragrances. It is also Hypo-Allergenic and is not tested on animals.
When I first received this, I was a bit worried about the orange smell. I find artificial orange to be horribly offensive. I was pleasantly surprised when the fragrance smelled fresh and natural. This is due to the orange peel and clementine oils contained within the list of ingredients. Since it does not contain DEA, it is not a lathering shampoo, I simply worked it up from the ends of my hair to the crown and after rinsing, I did the squeak test and it passed. The aroma is very invigorating when the steam from the shower hits it. It retails for 16.85 for 13.1 fluid oz and there is currently a 2.00 off coupon option for all of their products in their store.

I also received the complimentary conditioner to the shampoo. They are similar in smell, perhaps the conditioner being a bit less potent. The citrus antioxidants in both products stabilize the color in your hair and prevent it from fading. It also makes your hair color more vibrant and longer lasting. I recently used a hair color brand that truly damaged my hair and there was no noticeable shade difference. After one use of the combination of the shampoo and conditioner, my hair was back to being shiny, healthy looking and smelled delicious. The scent does linger ever so gently even for a few days after shampooing. When I initially colored my dark brown hair burgundy, no one could tell that there was any color change at all. A friend mentioned my hair after using this shampoo and conditioner and said it had nice highlights running throughout it, so it did bring out the color of the dye that I had used, whereas another shampoo had not. The conditioner is also a 13.1 oz size and retails for 16.79 minus the 2.00 coupon available.

The third product I received was a bit on the unusual side. I had never heard of anything quite like this. It is called the Beautricious Skin Firming Collagen Cocktail Line Reducing Drink Mix. Essentially what you do is mix one of the 12 packets into 8 oz or more of water twice a day and it is supposed to help turn back the signs of aging and possibly prevent UV induced skin aging. It has a warning saying not to consume more than two packets a day. It consists of a host of vitamins, including Vitamin A, Calcium, Zinc, Selenium, Co-Enzyme Q-10 and their proprietary blend of Beautricious Collagen, Peptides and other ingredients. It is a citrus flavored beverage and reminded me quite a bit of drinking similar orange flavored fiber beverages. The supply I received was only for 6 days, so I cannot verify whether any results were obtained. I believe a 30 day supply would have been more telling. This retails for 15.00 and also has the 2.00 off coupon option.

In closing, I would like to say that I will continue using the shampoo and the conditioner and finish off the remaining packets of the collagen cocktail. It was a pleasure being able to test these products and give a truthful opinion on them and I would like to take the time to thank the company for providing them to me.
